หน่อเด๊ะกว่อ หน่อต่าโฮ (แม่นางเขียดและแม่นางเก้ง)  Nauj Deif Kwauj dauv Nauj Taz Ho / Noh-de-gaw and Nohtaho (Miss red eye frog and miss deer)

Noh-de-gaw and Nohtaho were good friends. They usually exchanged labor, helping each other remove weeds from each other's rotational plots. One day, Noh-de-gaw went to work in Nohtaho's plot. She received such great treatment, not being taken advantage of, such as getting a break at lunch and being allowed to return home in the evening. However, when Nohtaho went to work in Noh-de-gaw's plot on the following day, she was treated unfairly, not being allowed to rest at lunch or to return home in the evening. Unexpectedly, Noh-de-gaw jumped into a pile of weeds and covered her eyes with red chillies and screamed. In the meantime, Nohtaho was so shocked by Noh-de-gaw’s behavior, so she ran away and stepped on the gourd vine, causing the green gourd to break from its pole. The gourd then rolled along the ground and hit the sesame tree, causing the sesame seeds to spill into the eyes of a wild chicken. The chicken could not see anything so it was scared and started to take off, flying into dry bamboo strips, causing them to drop. The bamboo strips consequently fell onto the back of a cobra who was accidentally slithering past that area. The cobra was so shocked that it aimlessly slithered into a boar's den, scaring the boar who was shocked and ran into a banana tree. This caused the banana tree to fall over the water ghost's baby and kill it.

The water ghost went to the banana tree, demanding it to compensate for the death of her baby. The banana tree argued and said, "It wasn't my fault. It was the boar who crashed into me, causing me to fall down." Having heard that, the water ghost turned to the boar who blamed the cobra. The cobra then blamed the dry bamboo strips. The bamboo strips blamed the wild chicken. The wild chicken blamed the sesame seeds. The sesame seeds blamed the green gourd. The green gourd blames Nohtaho. Finally, Nohtaho blamed Noh-de-gaw. Having seen all of these, Noh-de-gaw got scared and ran away to hide in the deep cave.

All the animals assembled and figured out who would volunteer to capture Noh-de-gaw hiding in the cave. Eventually, the crab volunteered to go into the cave and capture her. Deep in the cave, the crab found Noh-de-gaw weaving. The crab started to talk to her and complimented her beautiful small waist. Noh-de-gaw was touched by the crab's compliment and replied, "I can make my waist smaller if you'd like to see." Noh-de-gaw then pulled in her stomach until it was so small. Seeing that, the crab hurriedly pinned her waist with its claw, cut it in half and killed her.

Following this, all the animals stewed her meat and shared the meal among themselves. All the animals started to dance, except the cobra, so the other animals persuaded the cobra to dance with them. After having been persistently persuaded, the cobra agreed to dance but warned the other animals not to laugh at its dancing because if any of them started to laugh, their teeth would fall out. Then, the cobra started to dance but it did not know how to dance and its body was long. Seeing that, the pangolin started to laugh, and consequently its teeth began to fall out of its month. The cobra tried to help by putting the teeth back into the pangolin's mouth but the teeth kept falling off. The cobra made three attempts to help the pangolin but it never worked. This is the reason why the pangolins in the present are toothless. The tadpole, however, arrived late and there was only the soup left, so the tadpole ate a lot of soup until its stomach was huge. This is the reason why the tadpoles in the current time have a huge stomach. Finally, the grasshopper was the last to arrive and there was nothing left except the bones. So, the grasshopper ate only the bones, which got stuck in its neck. This, too, is the reason why the grasshoppers in the current time have a long neck.
